for a very long time I have been looking for poems for my children to read and enjoy. My 7 year old loves it and my 4 year old can understand them as well. I have found this book and also bought "Where the sidewalk ends". I like the books because they are cute, simple, funny and illustrated in a very fun way. This book contains poems that are funny but also make good discussion with your kids. They can be read together or individually but are great fun. This is a great tool that can be used to encourage reading formally and informally. We are planning to buy more of this author's poetry books.

Silversteins book Falling Up is a good example of veiwing the world in a different way. It makes you think. I like the poetry.

I purchased "Falling Up" for my grandaughter who is four. She loves it. Her mom says it is a frequent bedtime request.
